MTAI Conference, Voicing Sacred Secrets, September 8-10, 2017

Providence Center for Faith and Healing, Sacred Heart Medical Center, Spokane, WA

September 08, 2017
Friday through Sunday, September 8-10. 2017

Our conference this year centers on self-care and self-nourishment through an intimate focus on
our own biology. Dr. Sondra Barrett will lead us on day one to listen to the secrets of our cells.
We will rediscover what the structure and activity of our cells can teach us about self-care. The
weekend will focus on applying these lessons through group song. Mary Simms will lead us in
part harmony choral work so that we can nourish one another with our voices. The whole
weekend will emphasize the healing resources we have within our own bodies and in one
another. Prepare to be enfolded by these sacred secrets.
Participants will also be nourished by good food, musical presentations, prayerful rituals, time in
nature and a panel discussion on music therapy/ music-thanatology. Our annual business
meeting will enliven us for the coming year of growth.

Associates (formerly known as Students) Members and Friend Members are welcome to come to all sessions except the Business Meeting on Saturday afternoon, which is for Full-Members only.

MTAI Certification Interviews - April 7 & 8, 2018

To be determined.

April 07, 2018
We welcome applications for MTAI certification after candidates have completed all of the minimum requirements listed in the 120s of the Standards and Competencies. These requirements include the completion of music-thanatology training, including completing the research paper/project, completion of clinical training including fifty supervised vigils under a certified music-thanatologist with written narratives and participation in clinical reviews, and demonstrated proficiency of basic shared thematic pieces of music.

Only those with complete applications (both the first and second packets) received by the stated deadlines will be eligible for interviews. Applications are complete only after all materials are received and determined to be complete by the Certification Team and after your certification fee has been paid. It is advisable for all candidates (and in particular for candidates needing to make travel arrangements to your interview) to submit your application well in advance of the deadline to allow time for your application to be reviewed and, if needed, for you to submit additional materials. Submitting materials in advance of the deadline would also ensure some extra leeway for you in case unexpected delays occur. The deadlines established are firm. If your materials are not complete by the deadlines established, please submit your materials to us when you are able, with the understanding that you will be considered for the next interview cycle.

Submitting your application by the deadline is not a guarantee that you will be able to interview during your selected timeframe. We will have a maximum of four certification interviews each interview weekend and will fill the spots on first-come, first-served basis, based on when applications are determined to be complete by the Certification Team.

For the April 7-8 interviews, the deadline for the first packet will be December 3, 2017 and the deadline for the second packet will be January 21, 2018.
