Deej Japngie and Kris Starkey
Deej Japngie and Kris Starkey were formally initiated and trained at the Oneness University in India in 2007. Together they will share the "Oneness Blessing" or "Deeksha."
Christina Tourin
Christina is a second-generation harpist, who began playing the harp at the age of four. She received music and education degrees from the University of Vermont and studied harp at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria and at McGill University in Montreal. As an international recording and touring artist, she has concertized extensively. She is an active workshop organizer and has been instrumental in the revival of the folk harp since the early 1970's. In 1982 she founded the Scottish Harp Society of America and is the founder and director of the International Harp Therapy Program, established in1995. Promoting and developing harp therapy healing with sound, working in hospitals and hospices, the labyrinth, composing, teaching worldwide, and writing books round out her full life. She is a new "Friend" of MTAI. She will be teaching two sessions: Friday, Heartmath and Meeting the Modes and Saturday, Mastering the Modes. We welcome Tina and look forward to the experience of converging her vast knowledge of harp therapy with music-thanatology.
Annie Burgard
Annie Burgard is a Certified Music-Thanatologist living in Columbia, South Carolina at Palmetto Health Hospitals. She will present and facilitate "Out of the Soundbox," an experiential workshop exploring the application of thematic material at the bedside.
Laura Moya Lamm
Laura is a CM-Th in Portland, Oregon working at Providence St. Vincent's Medical Center. She will lead two schola cantorum sessions reviewing and sharing elements of thematic material.
Sandy LaForge and Tony Pederson
Sandy, CM-Th from Missoula, MT and Tony, CM-Th from Glenview, IL working at the Midwest Palliative and Hospice Care Center will share information about the MTAI website.
Beatrice Rose
Beatrice Rose, CM-Th and graduate of the International Harp Therapy Program is from Monroe, Oregon. She will share sacred chants of the ancient Gaelic musical tradition of the Ceile De order of Scotland.
Catharine Scherer
Catharine Scherer, CM-Th who lives and practices in Spokane, WA will offer an early morning optional session on Authentic Movement, an exploration and reconnection to our selves and to our bodies.
